The state government is set to relocate street vendors from Khyndai Lad to a designated area on Jail Road, with plans to complete the move by the end of November this year.
For years, the government has sought to clear vendors from Khyndai Lad, where their presence has hindered the movement of pedestrians and vehicles. Despite ongoing efforts, the number of vendors has continued to grow.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, the Minister incharge of Tourism, Paul Lyngdoh said that this time the government will take decisive action.
Over 200 vendors will be relocated according to the approval of the Town and Vending Committee, he added.
Following the relocation from Khyndai Lad, the government also plans to address vendors in Laitumkhrah, Motphran and Umsohsun.
