The State Government is in discussions with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, to secure approximately 2 to 1 acres of land at Mawlonghat, near the Kharmetor area. This move aims to relocate certain establishments from their current location.
Chief Secretary Donald P. Wahlang, speaking to reporters on Tuesday, stated that the state government is awaiting a response from the Defence Ministry regarding the proposal.
He further clarified that if the relocation plan is implemented, it will not affect the Gurudwara, a significant place of worship in the area, ensuring its preservation and sanctity.
On the issue of peace and order, Wahlang expressed optimism for continued stability, he said, the year 2024 has been a peaceful one and hope this trend will persist into the current year, he added.
