Shillong, December 16: The opposition to Uranium mining in Meghalaya is now known and recognised in India through a short film entitled, “How a village in Meghalaya fought against Uranium Mining”, which was broadcasted by the Quint in collaboration with t7 News from Shillong.
In recognition of the brilliant writing and presentation of the news, the Mumbai Press Club gave the award known as The Red Ink Award to this short film under the Environment Category (TV). In this category, 5 short films were nominated, with the award being won by the short film about the people of Meghalaya with a special focus on the strong resistance of (Late) ‘Mei-ieid’ Spelity Lyngdoh Langrin against Uranium mining in Domiasiat, South West Khasi Hills District.
The prestigious award given to journalists was received by Dominic Savio Diengdoh, producer of t7 News channel, and Tridip K.Mandal, producer of the Quint at a function which was held in Mumbai on the 16th of December,2022 at NCPA, Marine Drive.
The short film which was broadcasted by the Quint was perfected and presented by Savio Diengdoh and the team of t7 News channel. Most of the awards won on this platform were produced by BBC News.
