SHILLONG: NPP MLA and Cabinet Minister Wailadmiki Shylla has dismissed reports of an internal rift within the National People’s Party (NPP), saying the party remains united with all 33 of its MLAs standing together.
Speaking on Wednesday, Shylla said the reports of divisions within the party were merely rumours and had now been put to rest.
He said all 33 NPP MLAs had attended and signed the attendance register together at the party’s quarterly meeting held on Tuesday, demonstrating that there was no division or difference of opinion within the party.
At the same time, Shylla said the BJP’s growing strength did not pose any concern for the NPP.
He described the recent move of UDP MLAs to the BJP as being akin to moving from one room to another within the same MDA house, asserting that it would not affect the functioning of the government.
Instead, he said, the developments would further strengthen the NPP-led government.
