East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Vivek Syiem on Monday said the post-mortem examination of 30-year-old Throphimos Khongmawloh of Pynter has ruled out his external injuries as the cause of death.
The SP said the report revealed the presence of sharp objects in the deceased’s stomach, lending credence to claims that he may have ingested glass fragments.
However, Syiem cautioned that the post-mortem report is not yet final, as samples have been sent for toxicological and histopathological analysis. He said the exact cause of death will be established only after the pending laboratory reports are received.
