Shillong: The Deputy Chief Minister of Meghalaya in-charge also of the Department of PWD(Roads), Prestone Tynsong today inaugurated two bridges in the capital, one Umpling bridge, and the other Wahumkhrah bridge.
In connection with these two bridges, the completion has been very much delayed as a result of the State experiencing the onslaught of the Covid-19 pandemic leading to them being completed at a much later date.
After Tynsong cut the inaugural ribbon, the Umpling bridge which has been widened now to a two-lane road, was immediately opened for use which brought about much joy and benefit to the local residents of Rynjah, Umpling, New Shillong Township, and other nearby localities.
The Umpling bridge was completed at a cost of Rs.5 crores for which construction began three years ago with the stipulation completion time kept at 18 months and which can bear the weight of up to 70 metric tonne.
