Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has said that the state government has floated tenders three times to lease out the Polo market, but has received no response from bidders.
Speaking on Tuesday, he indicated that the lack of interest could be due to the high lease amount, adding that the government will review the matter. In the meantime, the Shillong Municipal Board has been asked to look after the market.
It may be noted that the Polo market complex was inaugurated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
Dhar also informed that expansion work at Shillong Airport in Umroi is set to begin soon, with the contractor expected to complete the project within 18 months.
