SHILLONG: Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president Vincent H Pala has questioned the government over the rise in drug-related activities in the state and the deteriorating law-and-order situation in the capital, alleging that the government has failed to take adequate steps to address the problem.
Speaking to media on Monday, Pala alleged that the decline in law and order had contributed to the growth of the drug trade and corruption under the present government.
He questioned whether people in positions of power could be involved in the drug trade, pointing to the frequent transfers of officers who seize drugs and arrest alleged drug peddlers.
Pala also challenged the government to deny the allegation.
