Over 90% voter turnout in Gambegre By-Election; Vote counting on Nov 23

Voters in the Gambegre constituency turned out in large numbers for the by-elections, with over 90 percent casting their ballots to elect a new representative to the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly.

A total of 33,088 voters participated, including 16,881 males and 16,207 females.

The polling process went smoothly with only a few minor incidents reported. According to the CEO of the Election Commission, Dr. BDR Tiwari, the total value of seized items during the election period amounted to 12.72 lakh rupees. This included 1.79 lakh in cash, drugs worth 2 lakh, alcohol worth 3.9 lakh and other goods valued at over 5 lakh.

The vote counting is scheduled on November 23.
