SHILLONG, March 16: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) MLA from Mawsynram, H.M Shangpliang has expressed concern over the recruitment process in Central Agricultural University, while stating that the aforementioned University employs only people from outside the State and directed a question on whether the Government is aware of this practice and whether the Government is aware that the people of the State are not getting any benefits of being employed in the University.
Shangpliang expressed this while presenting an additional question today in the Assembly. Responding to the question, the Minister incharge of the Department of Agriculture in the State, Banteidor Lyngdoh informed that he has talked about this matter with the Chief Minister and said that the CAU which is in Ri-Bhoi District is affiliated to the University in Imphal.
Prior to this, Lyngdoh informed that the State Government is pursuing with the Indian Government with regard to the establishment of the Central Agricultural University in Kyrdem Kulai, Ri-Bhoi District, and added that the matter is still very much alive and in the process for actualisation. This was informed by the Minister incharge of the Department of Agriculture in response to the question presented by the MLA of KHNAM from North Shillong, Adelbert Nongrum in the Assembly today.
Responding to the additional question from the MLA of Mawsynram, the Minister informed that the Ministry of Agriculture of the Government of India is still examining this matter. To this response of the Minister, Shangpliang expressed his dissatisfaction as the Minister could not clarify up to how far the matter of establishing the CAU has been processed.
