Not a Targeted Stop on Ardent’s Vehicle, It Was a Routine Check for Tinted Windows: SP

HEADLINES

Shillong: East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Sylvester Nongtnger, clarified that the vehicle of Nongkrem MLA, Ardent M Basaiawmoit, was not specifically stopped but was part of a routine check for tinted windows.

The SP explained that on August 22, Mawlai police were conducting a regular inspection of vehicles with tinted windows, and Ardent’s vehicle happened to arrive during the operation. Once it was identified as the MLA’s vehicle, it was immediately released. Nongtnger also mentioned that tinted windows are generally prohibited unless the vehicle belongs to an MLA or Minister.

Recently, Ardent had claimed that his vehicle was unfairly targeted for having tinted windows while NPP supporters were allegedly given more leniency.
