Shillong: Eight MLAs elected on UDP tickets and who joined the BJP on September 23 formally informed the Meghalaya Assembly Speaker’s office on Friday that they are now BJP MLAs.
As the Speaker was unavailable, the letter was submitted to Assembly Secretariat Adviser Dr Andrew Simons.
The MLAs were accompanied by BJP MLA and Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai, Meghalaya BJP president Rikman G. Momin and others.
The eight are Lahkmen Rymbui (Amlarem), Kyrmen Shylla (Khliehriat), Olan Singh Suin (Mawsynram), Pius Marwein (Ranikor), Synsharkupar Roy Lyngdoh Thabah (Sohiong), Mathew Beyondstar Kurbah (Mawphlang), Balajied Kupar Synrem (Shella),
However, Mayralborn Syiem MLA of Nongpoh constituency was not present.
