Eight MD (Homeopathy) students of the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homeopathy (NEIAH) have been on an indefinite hunger strike since November 26, protesting against the administration’s inaction on their grievances.
The students are demanding:
Payment of pending stipends for the past year.
Affiliation of their three-year MD (Homeopathy) program with NEHU.
Implementation of directives issued by the National Commission for Homeopathy.
Speaking to the press, the protesting students vowed to continue their strike until the administration provides a written assurance to address their demands, including the immediate release of pending stipends.
Saurabh Singh, a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) student, criticized the absence of both the Director-in-charge and the Deputy Director, who are currently in Delhi, leaving the institute in disarray during this critical time.
