Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Jayant Chaudhary, emphasized the need for well-prepared training centers to develop the diverse talents of youths in Northeast India. Speaking at the North East Skill and Entrepreneurship Conclave 2024 at IIM Shillong, Chaudhary highlighted the importance of tailoring skill development programs to suit the unique needs of the region, noting that a one-size-fits-all approach would not work in a country as diverse as India.
Chaudhary also pointed out that collaboration between different states is crucial, and the central government should not overstep or undermine local governance. He mentioned that the Ministry has been reshaped over the last decade to better address skill development.
He further announced that the central government has allocated special funds to upgrade 1,000 Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across the country and stressed the need for experts to provide input for improving ITIs. Additionally, Chaudhary noted that state governments have expressed interest in sending teams to participate in the World Skills Competition in Lyon, France.
