Mukroh Incident: HBDRF expresses dissatisfaction on Assam inquiry report

Shillong: The Hynniewtrep Border Dispute Redressal Forum (HBDRF) expressed dissatisfaction over the inquiry report by the Assam government on the Mukroh Incident happened on November 22, 2022.

The one-person commission headed by Justice Rumi Kumari Phukan (retd) has closed the proceedings in this case on Wednesday after no one turned up before the commission during its sitting at the Assam House in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The officials has stated in the report that Meghalaya government has failed to produce any witnesses and documents at the Assam’s inquiry commission probing the Mukroh violence.

Speaking to reporters, Thomas Passah the spokesman of HBDRF has demanded for a CBI inquiry into the Mukroh village firing incident on November 22, 2022 so the report will be non-biased and the wrongdoers will be punished accordingly, added Passah.

The HBDRF has also demand from the Meghalaya government to come up with the statement to justify on their stance on the incident. The HBDRF also demands the government to come up with counter arguments on the one-person commission inquiry report of the Assam counterpart.

Passah said that in the report filed by the Assam government it has stated that the Meghalaya government are not cooperating with the inquiry, therefore, it is the duty of the Meghalaya government to counter the accusations of this commission, added Passah.
