Shillong: Powerlifters from Meghalaya delivered an impressive medal haul at the Sikkim State Iron Man and Women Sub-Junior, Junior and Open Powerlifting Championship 2026, winning multiple gold medals, two Champion of Champions honours and the Best Powerlifting Team Trophy.
Shelly Crystal Laskor emerged as one of the standout performers for Meghalaya, winning gold in the women’s 52 kg senior category and also securing the Senior Champion of Champions Trophy.
Batrity Niangmih also produced a strong performance, taking gold in the women’s 84+ kg junior category and being crowned Junior Champion of Champions.
In the men’s competition, Fillbester Lyngdoh won gold in the 53 kg junior category, while Jerry Lyngdoh claimed gold in the 74 kg category and Prakash Chettri secured another gold in the 83 kg category.
Benysius Lyngdoh added a silver medal in the 53 kg junior category, while Shuvam Roy finished fourth in the 105 kg category.
The collective performance earned the Meghalaya contingent the Best Powerlifting Team Trophy, capping a successful outing for the state’s athletes at the championship.
