HEADLINES

Shillong: Meghalaya Police officer Okitlang Syiemlieh has brought pride to the state by securing a Top 10 finish in the Ladakh Marathon 2025. Competing in the gruelling Khardung La Challenge—a 72 km race held at 17,618 feet above sea level, regarded as the world’s highest marathon—he completed the course in 7 hours, 41 minutes, and 36 seconds, finishing ninth overall.

Syiemlieh, who has previously won the Tsomgo Ultra Marathon in Sikkim and competed in ultra races across Meghalaya and Assam, has consistently represented the state in national and endurance events. His achievement at Ladakh marks another milestone in his athletic career.

Meghalaya also has another connection to the Ladakh Marathon through Rephica Becky Pde, who successfully completed the race in 2018 and 2019.
