Shillong: The Meghalaya High Court has ordered that its interim stay on the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council’s (KHADC) decision to revoke the regularisation of over 30 casual employees will remain in effect until further orders.
In an order passed on Thursday, a bench led by Justice H.S. Thangkhiew stated, “The interim order passed earlier shall continue until the next date.”
The court was hearing a batch of more than 30 petitions filed by affected employees challenging the KHADC Executive Committee’s decision to cancel their regularisation. The next hearing has been scheduled for November 18.
According to the petitioners, the VPP-led KHADC Executive Committee had, on May 30, 2025, revoked the employees’ regularisation orders without issuing prior notices or granting them an opportunity to be heard, which they argue violates the principles of natural justice.
