The Meghalaya High Court has dismissed a writ petition, allowing the state government to proceed with its contract for supplying and installing advanced MRI equipment at Tura Civil Hospital in West Garo Hills.
In an order passed on Friday, a bench comprising Chief Justice I.P. Mukerji and Justice W. Diengdoh ruled that the Meghalaya government and Arengh Medical Supplier are free to move forward with executing the contract.
The case originated when Megindia Medical Supplier challenged the tender process, questioning the state’s decision to award the contract to Arengh Medical Supplier. A single-judge bench had earlier nullified the tender, prompting the state government and Arengh Medical Supplier to file separate appeals.
During the hearing, the state’s Advocate General informed the court that the contract execution was already underway. Meanwhile, Megindia Medical Supplier, through its counsel, submitted a request to withdraw its challenge. The court granted this request, effectively nullifying the dispute.
With the petition dismissed and previous judgments vacated, the installation of MRI equipment at Tura Civil Hospital can now proceed without further legal hurdles.
