The Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS), launches a month gender campaign, Nayi Chetna 3.0, which took place today the 27th November’2024 at the State Central Library Shillong, marking a significant milestone to combat gender-based violence. The event was graced by esteemed guests, Smt. Iamon Syiem, Chairperson of the State Women Commission, Meghalaya, the Guests of Honour, Shri. Ramakrishna Chitturi, Joint Secretary GoM, Community & Rural Development Department & CEO of Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS), Shri. Ronald Kynta, Chief Operating Officer of MSRLS. Other notable attendees include Dr. N.E Kharsahnoh, Director, MCH& MI, Health Department, Shri. S. Lyngdoh, Assistant Secretary of the Meghalaya State Legal Authority, the Assistant Director MATI, representatives JHPIEGO and Self-Help Group (SHG) members from districts and blocks from the Khasi region. The program featured special performances by SHG members and testimonies by Gender Champions etc.
A panel discussion, on “The role of Community Institutions in addressing Gender Based Violence” was led by Dr. Charismine P. Khonglah, the State Resource Person (SRP), MSRLS as the moderator joined by Cluster Level Federation Leaders as “Panelist”
This annual campaign aims to raise awareness and mobilize action to prevent and response to Gender Based Violence from all stakeholders of the community to actively engage in spreading awareness on Gender Based Violence and advocating for public actions.
