Meghalaya’s Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, announced that the state has sent 10 doctors to Tezpur, Assam, for a certified course in psychiatric and deaddiction treatment. The initiative aims to equip doctors with the necessary skills to address the growing issue of drug addiction in the state.
Upon completing their training, the doctors will return to Meghalaya, where the government plans to set up de-addiction centers in every district. These centers will provide essential services to help those struggling with drug addiction.
Minister Lyngdoh also highlighted the government’s efforts to prepare hospitals, particularly Ganesh Das and Shillong Civil Hospitals, with the equipment and facilities required for these services, further strengthening the state’s healthcare system in the fight against drug abuse.
