Medical Seats at USTM Not Exclusively for Meghalaya: Ampareen Lyngdoh

Meghalaya Health Minister, Ampareen Lyngdoh, clarified that the medical seats at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM), part of the PA Sangma Medical College, are not exclusively reserved for students from Meghalaya. While USTM has offered 46 medical seats to the state, the allocation of seats will follow national guidelines, and other states may also receive seats.

Lyngdoh mentioned that there is no Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) yet between the Meghalaya government and USTM, and the state is still reviewing the terms, especially regarding seat distribution for local and external students. The first batch of students is expected for the 2024-25 academic session.

She emphasized that all medical colleges in India, including USTM, must adhere to the regulations set by the Indian government.
