The rally protest organized by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of 21 villages on Wednesday caused heavy traffic disruptions along the entire Lumdiengjri-Garikhana stretch.
This route is a crucial connection to the main city, leading to severe congestion throughout the area.
The protest began after residents from these 21 villages were denied entry to the promises of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC).
These villages, which were recently falls under the Delimitation process and has been transferred from the Mawshynrut constituency to Rambrai-Jyrngam, have voiced strong opposition to the Select Committee’s decision.
