Shillong, April 9: Police on Thursday evening apprehended a man who was allegedly attempting to steal a car music system (tape) from a parked vehicle in Lachumiere, near the DIPR office.
According to the vehicle owner, the car had been parked along the Smart City road under construction while they stepped away briefly. Upon returning, they were informed by police that a theft attempt had been detected.
The owner stated that the vehicle had been properly locked, but it remains unclear how the accused managed to gain access inside.
Fortunately, patrolling police personnel noticed the suspect in the act of trying to remove the tape from the vehicle and caught him on the spot.
The accused was immediately taken into custody and brought to the police station for further legal action.
