The people of Hima Langrin on Wednesday staged a road blockade after they were denied entry into the premises of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC), expressing their anger over the restriction.
Police personnel were deployed at the entrance to the KHADC premises to prevent the protesters from entering the compound.
The people of Hima Langrin had gathered at the KHADC to oppose the District Council’s appointment of Nongtei Sing Syiem as Syiem of Hima Langrin. They demanded that the Syiem be chosen through an election instead.
