In a refreshing display of community spirit, a group of women football supporters of Kynshi Mawria took it upon themselves to clean the surroundings of the football ground after a match, refusing to simply walk past the litter left behind by spectators.
Armed with brooms, baskets and waste bins, the women swept and collected rubbish scattered around the stadium, particularly in and around the gallery where spectators had gathered to watch the game.
The initiative came after the Mairang Super League fixture between Kynshi Mawria and Nongrimai, organised by the Pyndengumiong District Sports Association.
Rather than leaving the responsibility of cleaning the venue to the organisers or ground staff, the supporters stepped forward themselves, helping restore the cleanliness of the stadium after the crowd had dispersed.
Their simple gesture has highlighted the importance of responsible behaviour among football spectators and the role supporters can play in keeping sporting venues clean.
