Shillong: The Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) enforcement police team today shut down a number of shops belonging to non-tribals who have opened illegally without proper documents and permissions from the Council.
The KHADC team was led by Inspector for Enforcement Ri Bhoi district along with other KHADC officials who inspected the shops, however on seeing the KHADC arriving the shop owners immediately closed their shops and disappeared.
The enforcement inspector later briefing the media informed that their intention to come to Khanapara was to have a discussion with the non-tribal shop owners over any dispute, problems faced and any other issues that were pending so that necessary legal process could be undertaken from their end.
He said that genuine shop owners should come to register and complete all legal formalities so that they would not have to encounter any legal issues with the Council.
