The Jaintia Students’ Union (JSU) Syndai Unit lodged a complaint on Tuesday with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of West Jaintia Hills and the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) regarding the alleged illegal construction of Hindu temple at Lakroh, West Jaintia Hills.
Leaders of the JSU Syndai Unit, including President Pynshailang Suliang and General Secretary Mebanri Suliang, stated that in March this year, the JSU Syndai Unit visited the area and filed a complaint with the Dolloi. However, no action has been taken so far.
The JSU leaders also expressed their frustration with the CEM of JHADC for failing to meet with the Union members to discuss issues affecting the jaidbynriew (community). They accused the CEM of neglecting his responsibilities and labeled him as “ingkhong shyllang mat”.
The JSU urged the concerned authorities, including the district administration and the JHADC, to take immediate action to prevent any potential problems. They warned that if the government and district council fail to act, the Union will not be held responsible for any unrest that may arise in the area.
