Jowai: The marketability of produce is one of the major problem faced by the farmers from time to time in Jaiñtia Hills as there are a lack of avenues to market their produce.
Therefore, in order to ease this problem faced by farmers, the Jaiñtia Hills Development Society which is one of the well-known voluntary organisations in Jaiñtia Hills on the 9th of March,2022 inaugurated the shop to market the produce of farmers in Mihmyntdu village, West Jaiñtia Hills.
This shop was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of West Jaiñtia Hills, Alexander Mukhim in the presence of the Guest of Honour, B.Blah, Block Development Officer of Thadlaskein Block.
This center has been funded by the Jaiñtia Hills Development Society and will be managed by a few specially selected SHGs.
The aim in opening this center is to help the farmers in displaying and marketing the products and food products produced by the farmers from all of Jaiñtia Hills area. This center will make it convenient for the buyers from within the area and from outside the area to buy precious and good products produced by the farmers of Jaiñtia Hills.
In his speech delivered on this day, the Additional Deputy Commissioner of West Jaiñtia Hills, Alexander Mukhim lauded the Jaiñtia Hills Development Society for taking this initiative in uplifting the economic capacity of the farmers in the area. He also said that this center will help to ease the problems faced by the farmers and will also help the different departments in accessing the essentials which have been produced by the farmers.
