Nongpoh,March 28: In part to preserve and value the cultural practices of our country and area, the Marmaiñ Area Youth Upliftment (MAYU) organised the 9th Cultural Festival on the 25th and 26th of March,2022 in Asin Bitili, Khulia-Marmaiñ, Ri-Bhoi District.
The aim in organising the Festival is to remember the cultural practices of the ancestors to value the traditional attire as well as traditional songs and dance and also traditional music and musical instruments.The programme is also in part to encourage the youths of the present age to preserve the culture of the ancestors entrusted unto them.
At the 2 days program, Mayralborn Syiem,MLA of Nongpoh constituency graced the festival as the Chief Guest while Balajied Rani, MDC of Nongpoh was the Guest of Honour with C.B.Syiem,Ex-CEM, Bangthai of Raid Marmaiñ Owen Tariang, the Headmen of the area and the office bearers of the organisation present.
In these two days, the women, elders and youths of the area got a chance to showcase their talents in traditional dance, traditional songs and playing the musical instruments as per our culture. On the final day of the program, prizes were distributed to two youths of the area who topped in their studies.
