Shillong: Resubelpara MLA from North Garo Hills, Timothy D Shira, has clarified that he did not demand or lobby for a ministerial berth in the state government. Instead, he said it was the people of North Garo Hills who strongly voiced their demand for ministerial representation.
Speaking to reporters today, Timothy highlighted that out of the four MLAs elected from North Garo Hills under the NPP banner, there was widespread public expectation that one should be inducted into the state cabinet.
Timothy had recently resigned as Deputy Speaker of the Assembly, paving the way for Limison D Sangma to be chosen in his place. Following this resignation, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma inducted Timothy as a minister in the MDA-II government.
