HNLC MEMBER INVOLVED IN IED BOMB BLAST IN KHLIEHRIAT SURRENDERS

SHILLONG, October 07: A member of the proscribed group Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) today surrendered himself to the District Administration of the East Jaintia Hills District.

The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Shri.Conrad K. Sangma has confirmed the news that one prominent member of the HNLC came forward and surrendered in Khliehriat today while asserting that the Police Department will be submitting a report which will be notified to mediapersons as well.

As per reports received, the HNLC member identified as Emanuel Suchen had been arrested earlier in suspicion of involvement in the IED bomb blast in the factory of Star Cement after which he absconded to Assam but today he came forward and surrendered.

The HNLC militant surrendered to the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the SP of East Jaintia Hills today.

Lahkmen Rymbui, Home Minister of Meghalaya said that Suchen was involved in the IED bomb blast in the Star Cement factory and the Khliehriat Police Reserve.

Rymbui said that the surrender of the member is a result of the rigorous hunt by the police but what is important is the manner in which the police have cooperatively worked with the family members of the surrendered militant who encouraged him to leave behind all militant activities.At the same time Rymbui has urged other members of the HNLC to surrender to the authorities and turn over a new leaf in their lives.

With regards to the planting of an IED bomb outside the NPP office, Rymbui said that the police had arrested one person yesterday identified as Ksankupar Kharkongor from Umphyrnai village.
