SHILLONG, July 21: The Samagra Shiksha Abhiyaan teachers under the banner of the Meghalaya SSA School Association (MSSASA), today the 21st of July got a chance to express their demands before the Governor of Meghalaya,Satya Pal Malik to seek for his intervention in the fight for the right of the SSA teachers.
Aristotle Rymbai, President of the MSSASA informed that the meeting with the Governor, Satya Pal Malik comes after the obstinance of the State Government, to have two demands of the teacher’s association heard, that is to clear the 5 months pending salary and also to enhance the pay of the LP and UP teachers.
He said the MSSASA has appealed to the Governor to intervene in this problem of the SSA teachers so that they will get their rights. Rymbai informed that the Governor in the presence of the SSA teachers phoned the Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K.Sangma to ask what action has been taken by the Government on the problems of the teachers, he also informed that the Governor has directed the Chief Minister who is in Tura at present to resolve the problems of the teachers once he reaches Shillong.
The leader of the teacher’s association has also placed before the Governor a request to have their problems heard to the Central Government for the release of the funds for the payment of the teacher’s salaries since the salary of the teachers is borne 90% by the Central Government.
