Shillong: Deputy Chief Minister and Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar has said that the state government is actively engaging with various stakeholders to build consensus before moving ahead with proposed railway projects in Meghalaya.
Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Dhar said that discussions are still underway and the government is committed to ensuring that all concerned parties are part of the decision-making process.
“The government needs to consult with the people, share ideas and create awareness about the projects so that everyone is on board before we move forward,” he explained.
Acknowledging the challenges involved, Dhar added, “So, it will take a little more time as it is not so easy.”
Highlighting the sensitivity and scale of the initiative, the Deputy Chief Minister noted that the government cannot proceed without collective agreement.
“…unless and until everybody is on board it is not easy for the government to go ahead with such a big project,” he added.
