GOVERNMENT SPENDS MORE THAN ₹2 CRS IN THE BEAUTIFICATION OF SHILLONG, JOWAI AND TURA

SHILLONG, January 19: The Urban Affairs Minister, Sniawbhalang Dhar said that cleanliness should not be followed only on celebration and festive days but should be followed all year round, and he said that for the beautification work for the three cities of Shillong, Jowai and Tura with fresh coats of paint and wall art or murals, the Government has spent more than ₹2 crores.

As it is evident at present, almost every locality in Shillong have started cleaning and beautifying the locality to mark a grand welcome of the 50 Years of Statehood celebration to be held on the 21st of this month.

With regard to this, the Minister said that it is the responsibility of the Government to further the forward movement of this work and especially as a mark of the celebration where cleanliness is seen in all parts of the localities in Shillong,Jowai and Tura.

On being asked, he said that the Government in part to support the Dorbar Shnongs with this work has also contributed a small amount and the amount incurred towards that contribution is about more than ₹2 crores.
