Golflink Dorbar Shnong Reopens Gate to Madan Saw After Agreement with Shillong Club

HEADLINES

Shillong: A high-level meeting convened by East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner R.M. Kurbah (IAS) has successfully resolved the standoff between the Golflink Dorbar Shnong and the Shillong Club over access to the Shillong Golf Course.

The meeting, attended by representatives of the Shillong Club, Dorbar Shnong, Seng Samla, and MLA A L Hek, led to a mutual understanding between both parties.

Following the discussion, the Dorbar Shnong agreed to reopen the gate leading to Madan Saw (R.V. Lyngdoh Ground) after the Shillong Club accepted key demands put forward by the shnong.

The demands include free access for local residents, especially morning walkers from Golflink, Mawlai Mawroh, Lumshyiap, and Pynthorbah, as well as employment opportunities for local youth, particularly in security roles.

Rangbah Shnong Michael Hek stated that the Shillong Club has also agreed not to charge entry fees for residents accessing the ground.

He warned that any future disruptions could lead to stricter action from the shnong.

Meanwhile, MLA A.L. Hek welcomed the development, stating that both sides have shown willingness to cooperate, resulting in a peaceful resolution.
