Four armed men were killed following an exchange of fire with police during a naka-checking operation at Songsak in the early hours of Sunday.

According to preliminary information, police personnel were conducting naka checking at around 4 AM when the four men approached the checkpoint for inspection and allegedly opened fire at the personnel on duty.

Police retaliated, during which all four men sustained injuries and subsequently died.

The identities of the deceased have not yet been formally established, and police are working to verify their backgrounds and determine whether they had any criminal antecedents.

Police have also confirmed that investigators are examining a possible link between the four men and an incident reported at Tapra across the state border on August 25. However, their involvement has not yet been established.

The Superintendent of Police said the immediate priority is to establish the identities of the deceased. Once identified, their backgrounds, criminal antecedents and possible links to previous incidents will be investigated.
