Nongpoh, Sept 5: A family in Shangbangla village narrowly escaped a tragic landslide incident around 8 PM. The landslide, triggered by heavy rainfall lasting over three hours, caused the land and trees to collapse, burying a shop and house belonging to Teiborlang Wahlang near the village highway.
Although no one was harmed, the family lost all their belongings, including shop items and goods. Village headman Bishos Lawriniang attributed the landslide to prolonged heavy rain and revealed that around 20 households are at risk of similar incidents. He urged the government to take measures to prevent further tragedies.
