The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of East Khasi Hills has issued a series of orders to ensure a clean and fair MDC election, banning individuals from carrying more than ₹50,000 during the election period.
In a notification issued on Monday, the DC stated that the measures aim to curb the misuse of money, particularly by candidates and uphold the integrity of the election. Section 163 of the BNSS has been enforced across the district to support these efforts.
Additionally, protests and demonstrations by individuals or groups have been prohibited until February24. The election campaign period has been restricted to 6 PM to 10 PM, and anyone planning to hold election meetings must obtain prior permission from the relevant authorities and the respective villages. Public marches and meetings without approval will not be allowed.
The DC also ordered that no flags may be erected on walls, private properties, streets, or any public places without proper authorization. Violators, including those engaging in unauthorized activities beyond 10 PM, will face legal action.
