Guwahati: Basistha Police, in coordination with Jorabat Police, seized 262.39 grams of suspected drugs valued at around ₹2 crore from a dumper truck at Jorabat after receiving information that the consignment was allegedly being transported from Manipur to Guwahati.
According to police, the operation was carried out at around 4 PM on September 21 after specific intelligence was received regarding a truck carrying narcotics towards Guwahati. Police subsequently laid a trap at Jorabat and intercepted the dumper bearing registration number AS 01 GC 7487.
The vehicle was being driven by Mohammad Fariuddin, reportedly a resident of Manipur. During a search of the dumper, police allegedly discovered 20 soap boxes containing 262.39 grams of suspected drugs, which had been carefully concealed underneath the vehicle.
Police estimated the value of the seized contraband at approximately ₹2 crore. The driver was taken into custody, while further investigation is underway to determine the source of the consignment, its intended recipients and whether others were involved in the alleged trafficking operation.
