Shillong, October 22, 2025: The Don Bosco Youth Centre, Shillong, reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment through vocational training by presenting a sewing machine to Ms. Sinora Khongshei, a trainee who successfully completed her tailoring and embroidery course. The gift, handed over by the Centre’s Director, Fr. Michael Makri, recognised her dedication, discipline, and potential for self-reliance.
Fr. Makri stated that the initiative reflects the Centre’s goal of encouraging young people to pursue independence through skill development. Don Bosco Youth Centre has been at the forefront of equipping youth with practical skills — from computer literacy to tailoring and entrepreneurship — and often supports outstanding trainees to start their own livelihoods.
Expressing gratitude, Ms. Khongshei thanked the Centre and her trainers for their support and urged her peers to make the best use of such opportunities. The gesture, Fr. Makri noted, serves not only as recognition of her hard work but as an inspiration for others to strive toward a brighter, self-sufficient future.
