Shillong: Deficit school teachers under the banner of the Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers’ Association (KJDSTA) held a peaceful rally on Friday from MBoSE office to Malki ground to highlight their grievances and press the government to fulfil their demands.
A key issue raised by the teachers was the non-implementation of the Contributory Provident Fund (CPF) and National Pension System (NPS) for deficit school employees.
The association also opposed the Meghalaya Non-Government School and College Employees Centralised Provident Fund Scheme, 2026, stating that it had already rejected the scheme and demanding that it be denotified.
Other demands include the release of 51% and 53% Dearness Allowance (DA) and payment of the arrears of 43% DA.
The teachers also demanded that the government’s contribution towards the CPF be increased to 10% of their salaries.
Thousands of deficit school teachers participated in the rally.
