Congress to Release Second Batch of MDC Candidates for KHADC and JHADC Elections

HEADLINES

The President of the Congress party in Meghalaya, Vincent H. Pala, announced that the second batch of candidates for the KHADC (Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council) and JHADC (Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council) elections will be released in the first week of January 2025.

Congress has already unveiled the first set of 26 candidates, which includes 15 for KHADC and 11 for JHADC. Speaking today, Pala stated that the party has thoroughly prepared for the elections and has provided training for its candidates, many of whom are newcomers. As the President of the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), he actively monitors the performance of constituencies. In these areas, Congress candidates will face competition from the VPP (Voice of the People Party), UDP (United Democratic Party), and NPP (National People’s Party).

Pala emphasized that the Congress party is focused on a unified strategy, challenging all opposition candidates rather than engaging in isolated contests. The KHADC and JHADC elections are scheduled for February 21, 2025, with the official announcement set for January 24, 2025.
