Congress Losing Ground After Bihar Defeat, Says NPP Leader; Party to Examine GHADC Candidates in December

HEADLINES

Shillong — National People’s Party (NPP) leader Marcuise N Marak has claimed that the influence of the Congress is steadily weakening in Meghalaya, especially in Garo Hills, following the party’s recent poor performance in the Bihar elections.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Marcuise said that while elections can never be taken lightly, the NPP is gearing up to work aggressively to secure victory in the upcoming GHADC MDC elections. He added that the party is preparing to screen and evaluate potential candidates who wish to contest the MDC polls, with a detailed review scheduled for December.

Marcuise expressed confidence that the people of Garo Hills will once again extend their support to the NPP, noting that under the leadership of the Chief Minister, the government has even ensured the release of salaries for Council employees — a move he believes reflects the party’s commitment to governance.
