Shillong, September 07: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya, Conrad K.Sangma said that the chargesheet of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) against the 4 leaders of the Hynñiewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) will not at all affect the peace talk with the outfit which has begun to progress now.
He said that the NIA is an independent investigation agency, but it will not create a hurdle in the peace talk because the Indian Government is also a party in this talk, and they know better on how to move ahead on this matter. He said that the State Government will ensure that the peace talk with the HNLC will not be affected by the investigation of the NIA.
On being queried, Sangma said that the peace talk has begun in the unofficial level, in order to gain trust and other processes have been carried forward before the official talk along with necessary documents begins. He expressed hope that the tripartite peace talk will begin soon after all preparations have been put in place.
