Shillong : BJP Meghalaya MLA A.L. Hek has expressed confidence that key issues, including the inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution, implementation of the Meghalaya Residents Safety and Security Act (MRSSA) in place of the Inner Line Permit (ILP), and the relocation of Harijan colony from Them Iewmawlong, will be addressed.
Speaking on Tuesday, Hek said he could not make a firm statement on the lifting of the coal mining ban at this stage, as the matter is still tied up in court cases. He also said the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) issue is currently before a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) and more clarity would emerge later.
Hek said the issues raised by UDP MLAs are also demands being made by the people, and that the BJP Meghalaya supports these demands.
He further revealed that during his recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, he also raised the issue concerning SFX, a Catholic Church organisation based in Mawlein that works to serve and support youth across the Northeast.
