Veteran politician Bindo M. Lanong has congratulated his daughter, Deiti Majaw, on her victory as a Member of District Council (MDC) from Malki-Laitumkhrah under the Voice of the People Party (VPP) in the recently concluded Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) elections.
Expressing his happiness over the new leadership in KHADC, Lanong said that the people have reposed their faith in VPP because of its strong principles and commitment to good governance. He credited the party’s rise to the public’s desire for clean politics and a break from corruption.
Lanong, a respected statesman, urged the newly elected MDCs to serve with honesty and dedication, ensuring that governance remains transparent and corruption-free.
On being asked about his daughter’s win, he clarified that while he supported her candidacy, he did not actively campaign for her. However, he expressed pride in her success and wished her well in her journey in public service.
“As a father, I extend my best wishes to my daughter. I hope she works sincerely and serves the people well. I am pleased that the people of Malki-Laitumkhrah have entrusted their faith in VPP and in her leadership,” said Lanong.
