Shillong: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) has arrested a woman identified as Asia Begum from Assam for allegedly peddling drugs in Lum Survey. Police recovered three soap cases containing narcotics weighing around 32.73 grams from her possession.
Acting on further intelligence, ANTF conducted midnight raids at multiple houses in Lum Survey, where several small soap containers commonly used to pack drugs were found, along with multiple mobile phones suspected to have been stolen.
Officials revealed that Lum Survey remains one of the city’s major hotspots for drug trade and other illegal activities, often involving outsiders residing illegally in the area under the jurisdiction of Shillong Cantonment Board.
An FIR has been registered at Cantonment Beat House, and the seized contraband has been handed over to the concerned police station. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to crack down on the drug menace and its deep roots in the locality.
