Shillong: East Shillong MLA and NPP leader, Ampareen Lyngdoh, has expressed deep regret over not being able to complete key health projects, particularly the Tura Medical College, following her removal from the state cabinet.
Speaking after stepping down, Ampareen admitted she felt disheartened that while the Shillong Medical College project was successfully pushed forward, the Tura Medical College remained incomplete. She, however, voiced hope that her successors would carry on the work she had initiated as health minister.
Ampareen said she still holds faith in her party and remains open to responsibilities entrusted by its leadership. She stressed that if the transition of her removal had been handled in the right manner, she would have had no difficulty in accepting it.
Reflecting on her tenure, she noted achievements such as strengthening Primary and Community Health Centres (PHCs and CHCs), streamlining ASHA workers’ honorarium directly into their accounts, and other reforms in the health sector.
“The credit for these milestones belongs to the party in power,” she said, adding that her focus had always been on delivering results that benefit the people.
