Shillong: The National Law University of Meghalaya hosted a special lecture on “From Himalayan Exploration to Comparative Mountain Research,” featuring Hermann Kreutzmann, Chair of Human Geography at Freie Universität Berlin.
Held at the A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Auditorium, the lecture explored the historical foundations of mountain studies, comparative research on the Himalayas and the relationship between ecology, human settlements and legal geographies.
The session also examined issues of marginality, fragility and the legal challenges faced by tribal communities in mountain regions. Students and faculty from multiple academic institutions in Shillong participated in the event.
Officials said the lecture offered valuable academic insight into comparative development, migration and mountain research.
